How we Started
At B.C. Cannon Co., Inc., we are focused on providing work zone safety and traffic control services with the highest levels of customer satisfaction – we will do everything we can to go above and beyond your expectations.
In the year 1970 Bruce Cannon, Sr. and his wife, Mary Cannon, began manufacturing traffic barricades in the basement of their home in Greenville. These barricades were then rented and sold to local construction businesses in the area. The concept of the business came from Bruce Cannon, Sr.'s first hand experience in heavy construction for over twelve years. As a civil engineer, Bruce Sr. was both a superintendant and a project manager in the construction industry.
He quickly became aware of the difference between performing services with his own equipment and man-power versus the option of renting equipment which would be maintained and serviced by the rental company. With the rental equipment he was able to focus all his manpower to the job at hand as opposed to having to pull employees from the actual construction to inspect and maintain equipment regularly. He also saw the disadvantage of buying these items at the small quantities he needed as opposed to the bulk orders rental companies were able to place. In short, it was far more economical and required no maintainance on his part by going through a rental company for such equipment.
This brought about the idea for B.C. Cannon Company.
Bruce and Mary Cannon went from a business in their home to a thriving business in 1982 when the bank accepted a proposal for financing the budding B.C. Cannon Company. With this they moved to their own warehouse and were able to purchase machines which allowed for a wider variety of products to be brought in. They serviced the Greenville, Anderson, and Spartanburg areas with their equipment.
B.C. Cannon Company provided as Bruce Cannon Sr. said," It simply boils down to the fact that we will produce a 'better mouse trap.' "
Established in 1982 B.C. Cannon Co., Inc. began to outshine the competition with our state of the art equipment at the time. Our flashing lights would turn off during the day to save battery life, we offered easy to move and setup designs, and our customer service was unmatched.
